Shah Rukh Khan’s foundation extends aid to 1,500 flood-affected families in Punjab

Chandigarh: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has extended his support to Punjab amid the ongoing floods. Through his Meer Foundation, in collaboration with local NGOs, he has launched relief efforts to assist families affected by the severe flooding, providing essential supplies and aiding in rehabilitation.

The relief initiative includes distributing kits containing medicines, hygiene products, food items, mosquito nets, tarpaulin sheets, folding beds, cotton mattresses, and other necessities. The campaign aims to reach 1,500 households across Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Firozpur districts, offering immediate support for health, safety, and shelter, while helping families rebuild their lives with dignity.

Punjab is currently facing one of its worst floods in recent years, displacing thousands of families. Relief and rehabilitation efforts are underway, with authorities and NGOs working intensively to restore normalcy.

The Roundglass Foundation expressed gratitude to Shah Rukh Khan, saying, “Heartfelt thanks to Shah Rukh Khan Ji for extending a helping hand through his Meer Foundation. His support gives us strength, hope, and fuels our belief that we will overcome this crisis. With his help, we have reached 5,000 people across several affected areas: Chak Aul in Amritsar; Ghanike Bet in Gurdaspur; Dhani Mohna Ram, Dhani Gurkha, Gatti No. 3, and Sabuana in Fazilka; and Gati Rajo Ke and Tendi Wala in Ferozpur.”

On September 3, Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt message on X, expressing solidarity with flood-affected residents: “My heart goes out to those in Punjab impacted by these devastating floods. Sending prayers and strength… The spirit of Punjab shall never break… may God bless them all.”

Several Bollywood and Punjabi celebrities have also contributed to relief efforts. Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh adopted ten of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar, working alongside NGOs and local authorities. Ammy Virk announced that he and his team had adopted 200 homes to support affected families. Actor Sonu Sood has also stepped in to assist flood-affected communities.

Other stars including Vicky Kaushal, Suniel Shetty, Sunny Deol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Shubman Gill, and Harbhajan Singh have voiced support for victims. Relief operations focus on providing food, medical care, shelter, and rehabilitation assistance to displaced residents.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced a review meeting on Friday at 11 am to assess the flood situation after heavy rains. In a post on X, he stated that the meeting would cover medical facilities, compensation measures, and strategies to manage and mitigate the floods. Deputy Commissioners of affected areas will join via video conference, while the Secretary and Chief Secretary will attend in person at the CM’s residence in Chandigarh.
