The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari in Shopian’s Sofannaman area for allegedly accepting a bribe. The accused has been identified as Ashiq Hussain Shah from Turkawangam, Shopian.
Officials said the action came after a complaint that the Patwari had demanded illegal payment in exchange for performing his official duties. Acting swiftly on the information, the ACB set a trap and caught him in the act, taking him into custody immediately.
A case has been registered under the applicable legal provisions, and investigators are looking into whether the Patwari was involved in similar incidents before. The ACB emphasized its continued commitment to combating corruption and urged citizens to report any such cases without hesitation.
