KATRA: Following the directives of Hon’ble Chairman Shri Manoj Sinha (Lt. Governor, J&K UT), the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) continued its relief operations for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. Upholding a humanitarian approach, the Board provided essential relief materials in coordination with the Reasi and Udhampur District Administrations.

The assistance package included dry ration kits, utensils, blankets, tarpaulins, tents, and other essential items to support families affected by recent floods and landslides in the region. Heavy rains and landslides in Reasi and Udhampur districts have severely impacted numerous villages, prompting the Shrine Board to actively contribute to relief and rehabilitation efforts.

To date, over 1,200 families have received aid. Relief materials were formally handed over to the district administrations, which are prioritizing distribution to the most affected households. Shrine Board teams, along with local authorities, visited affected areas, assessing ground needs and ensuring timely delivery of supplies across dozens of villages around Katra.

Temporary shelters have been established at Shakti Bhawan, Niharika, for displaced families from Purana Daroor village, where free meals are also being provided to ensure safety and support.

Local residents expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the Shrine Board has gone beyond its social responsibilities, demonstrating compassion and a strong commitment to service. This relief effort underscores the Board’s dedication not only to facilitating pilgrimages for millions of devotees but also to supporting local communities in times of crisis, reflecting its deep-rooted values of social service and humanitarian commitment.
