Ramban, Dec 03: The Sangharsh Samiti Ramban unit staged a protest against the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) over the ongoing admission row at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME). The protesters accused the Shrine Board of adopting unfair practices in the admission process, which they said has deprived deserving students of opportunities.

Led by local leaders of the Sangharsh Samiti, the demonstrators gathered in Ramban town and raised slogans demanding transparency and accountability in the admission procedure. They alleged that the admission norms were manipulated to favour select candidates, undermining the merit-based system.

Addressing the gathering, Samiti members said the Shrine Board must immediately review the admission process and ensure justice to students from Ramban and other districts. They warned that the agitation would intensify if corrective measures were not taken at the earliest.

The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the district administration, urging intervention to safeguard the interests of students. They emphasized that SMVDIME, being a premier institution, should uphold fairness and meritocracy in its admission policy.

Authorities acknowledged receipt of the memorandum and assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned officials. Meanwhile, the Sangharsh Samiti has announced that it will continue its campaign until the demands are met.
