DUBAI: India captain Shubman Gill has been shortlisted for the ICC Player of the Month award for July, alongside South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder and England captain Ben Stokes.
Gill impressed with his stellar performance in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, guiding a young Indian team to a hard-fought 2-2 series draw. The 25-year-old batter rewrote the record books, amassing 754 runs in the five-match series—including four centuries and a double hundred—at an average of 75.40. In doing so, he surpassed Sunil Gavaskar’s long-standing record of 732 runs, becoming the highest run-scorer by an Indian captain in a five-Test series.
