New Delhi: Silver prices on Monday soared by ₹7,000 to touch a record ₹1.5 lakh per kilogram in the national capital, while gold also hit an all-time high of ₹1,19,500 per 10 grams amid strong global cues, according to the All India Sarafa Association.
Gold of 99.9% purity rose ₹1,500 to ₹1,19,500 per 10 grams (inclusive of taxes), up from ₹1,18,000 in the previous session. Similarly, gold of 99.5% purity jumped to a lifetime high of ₹1,18,900 per 10 grams from ₹1,17,400 on Saturday.
Silver extended its winning streak for the fourth straight session, climbing ₹7,000 from the last close of ₹1,43,000 to settle at ₹1,50,000 per kilogram.
Globally, both precious metals rallied sharply. Spot gold surged nearly 2% to a record USD 3,824.61 per ounce, while silver gained over 2% to USD 47.18 per ounce.
Analysts attributed the sharp rise to robust global demand and a weakening dollar, with investors turning to safe-haven assets amid persistent geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
