Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will arrive in India this evening for a three-day official visit. During his stay, he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and interact with leaders from Indian industry and business. Several agreements are expected to be signed in areas such as skill development, finance and digital cooperation, civil aviation, space collaboration, and shipping. The two leaders had previously agreed to elevate India–Singapore relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during their meeting in Singapore in September last year.
Mr. Wong will also call on President Droupadi Murmu and meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. His visit follows the third round of the India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) held last month in New Delhi, where a Singapore delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong held discussions with Indian ministers, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Singapore remains India’s largest trading partner in Southeast Asia, with bilateral trade reaching 34.27 billion US dollars in the last financial year.
