Jammu, Nov 24: Amid the ongoing row over admissions at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), the Chief Minister reiterated that the institute follows a strictly merit-based admission system, dismissing allegations of religious bias as completely baseless.

The Chief Minister said that SMVDIME adheres to transparent procedures and nationally accepted standards, where students are selected solely on the basis of their performance and eligibility. He stressed that no factor other than merit plays a role in the selection of candidates.

Calling the allegations an attempt to create unnecessary tension, the CM said such claims distort facts and undermine the credibility of the institution. He affirmed that the administration remains committed to ensuring fair, unbiased and accountable admission practices across all educational institutions.

The CM urged students and the public to rely on verified information and assured that any legitimate concerns regarding the admission process will be addressed responsibly. He said the government continues to prioritise strengthening the medical education sector and safeguarding equal opportunities for all deserving candidates.
