Jammu, Dec 6: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Students’ Society (SMVDSS) staged a protest at Tawi bridge in Jammu on Saturday against the ongoing admission row at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Education (SMVDIME). The demonstrators raised slogans demanding transparency and fairness in the admission process.

Protesters alleged irregularities in the admission procedure and claimed that deserving candidates were being sidelined. They urged the administration to intervene and ensure that merit-based criteria are upheld in line with established norms.

SMVDSS leaders said the protest was organized to draw attention to the grievances of students and parents who feel disadvantaged by the current system. They emphasized that the credibility of the institution depends on maintaining fairness and accountability in admissions.

Traffic movement at Tawi bridge was briefly disrupted as students gathered in large numbers, prompting police deployment to maintain order. Authorities later assured the protesters that their concerns would be conveyed to the relevant officials for review.

The students’ society reiterated its demand for immediate corrective measures and warned that further protests would be held if the issue remains unresolved. They stressed that the matter is critical for the future of aspiring medical students in Jammu and Kashmir.
