Srinagar: The weather department on Tuesday evening said that several higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing snowfall, adding that the ongoing wet spell with light to moderate rain and snow is expected to continue for the next 12 hours.

Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif reported that as of 6 p.m., Razdan Top had received about 2 inches of snow, while Sonamarg, Baltal, and Zojila Pass witnessed light snowfall with an accumulation of 1–2 cm. Tulail in Gurez Valley also recorded 1–2 cm of snow, and light snowfall was observed at Sinthan Top, Peer Ki Gali, and Gulmarg, he added.

Arif said rain and snow showers are likely to continue for another 8–10 hours before gradually tapering off. From tomorrow onward, mostly dry weather is expected to prevail across Jammu and Kashmir for the next 10–15 days.

This weather pattern, he noted, brings relief to low-lying areas while sustaining snow cover in higher altitudes—vital for tourism and water resources in the region.
