Apple is gearing up for the iPhone 17 launch next Tuesday, but the company has more in store beyond its flagship reveal. Alongside the much-awaited iOS 26 release date announcement, Apple is reportedly preparing one final iOS 18 update for older iPhones that won’t be eligible for the new version.

iOS 18.6 was widely believed to be the last update in the cycle, but with many users still relying on older devices, Apple seems ready to issue iOS 18.7 to address lingering security concerns.

iOS 18.7: A Farewell Update for Older iPhones

According to MacRumors, iOS 18.7 could arrive around the same time iOS 26 launches, focusing solely on critical security patches rather than new features. The update is expected to be available for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR — models that won’t make the jump to iOS 26. From this year onward, users will need an iPhone 11 or newer to access Apple’s new Liquid Glass UI design.

A beta version of iOS 18.7 might roll out in the coming days, giving these older iPhones one final swansong before they are phased out of software support.

Meanwhile, the latest iPhone 17 Pro leak, shared by tipster Majin, hints at changes coming with Apple’s official clear case. The leak suggests three takeaways:

The triple-camera setup remains but with a noticeably different rear layout.

The MagSafe charging area now features a larger rectangular design instead of the familiar circular ring seen on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Other design refinements are likely, giving us an early preview of what Apple’s next flagship will look like.
