Mumbai: Actress Sonakshi Sinha is gearing up to reveal an entirely new side of herself in the upcoming Tamil film “Jatadhara.”
The actress shared that she had been waiting for a long time to take on a role so different from her previous performances. In a statement to media Sonakshi called it an exciting opportunity to push her creative boundaries and expressed gratitude to the makers for trusting her with such a unique character.
“I’ve been waiting for a long time to do a character like this. It’s completely different from anything I’ve done before, and that’s what made it so exciting for me. I want to thank the makers for envisioning me in such a role and bringing it to life,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey, the Akira actress added, “Ever since my debut, people have told me I have an Indian face — some even called me Bihar ki beti. But my father always said, ‘You’re Hindustan ki beti. If you play a character from any state, you’ll blend right in.’ So here I am, exploring a side of myself I’ve never shown before, and I can’t wait to see how audiences react.”
Marking her Tollywood debut, Sonakshi takes on the powerful role of Dhanapisachini in Jatadhara. Speaking about the film, the Dabangg star said, “What makes Jatadhara powerful is how it blends the supernatural with real human emotions. The fear it evokes isn’t just external — it lingers in the mind long after the story ends.”
Co-star Sudheer Babu shared his excitement as well, saying, “This is one of the most intense and challenging roles I’ve ever taken on. The story’s depth and energy are unlike anything I’ve experienced before.”
Directed by Venkat Kalyan, the upcoming supernatural thriller also stars Divya Khossla and Shilpa Shirodkar. “Jatadhara” is set to release in Telugu and Hindi on November 7, 2025.
