Mumbai: Punjab’s leading star Sonam Bajwa says this year has been a “pleasant surprise,” as she finally sees her long-cherished dream of working in Hindi cinema come true.
When asked about balancing her work between Bollywood and Punjabi cinema, Sonam told IANS, “This year has been a beautiful surprise for me. As an artist, I always dreamt of doing Hindi films. I’m forever grateful to Punjabi cinema for everything it has given me — it has shaped both my life and my career.”
Born in Uttarakhand, raised in Uttar Pradesh, and having built her career in Punjab, Sonam says her journey reflects a blend of cultures and dreams.
“I grew up watching Hindi films but worked in Punjabi cinema. Like every artist, I wanted to reach a wider audience, to perform in Hindi films, to feature in those songs and scenes I admired,” she said.
Sonam, who made her Hindi film debut with Housefull 5 and later appeared in Baaghi 4 and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, called it the fulfillment of a lifelong goal.
“I always told myself to keep working towards this dream. And I’ve learned that being grateful, even for the smallest things, opens the door to bigger blessings. God says that when you are thankful for little, you are given more — and that’s something I’ve always believed,” she shared.
Reflecting on her journey, Sonam added, “This year, not just one or two, but three Hindi films have come my way. I continue to work in Punjabi cinema as well. It’s not overwhelming — yes, there are moments of stress, but above all, I feel immense gratitude. I’m truly enjoying every moment of this new chapter in my life.”
