The Armani Group confirmed that the fashion icon passed away at his home in Milan. In a statement, the company said, “With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Tireless, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, its collections, and numerous projects, both ongoing and in progress.”

Employees and family members added, “In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. Born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy, Armani was a lifelong cinephile and enjoyed a close connection with Hollywood. He gained global fame for revolutionizing men’s tailoring in the 1970s and skyrocketed to prominence after designing Richard Gere’s wardrobe in American Gigolo (1980). Over the years, Armani’s designs have defined iconic film looks, from Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, Kevin Costner in The Untouchables, Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman and Bruce Wayne, Brad Pitt in Inglourious Basterds, Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year, to the distinctive collars in Goodfellas.

A public viewing for Giorgio Armani will be held at Armani/Teatro (Via Bergognone 59) in Milan on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
