New Delhi: The government has clarified that no order has been issued to unblock the Chinese social media platform TikTok, officials stated late Friday.
The clarification comes after reports emerged claiming that some users were able to access the TikTok website on desktop browsers.
“A government order to unblock TikTok has not been issued. Any reports suggesting otherwise are false and misleading,” a government source said.
TikTok was among several apps banned by India following clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley, eastern Ladakh, in June 2020.
Initially, 59 apps—including TikTok, UC Browser, and Shein—were blocked in June 2020, with additional apps such as PUBG subsequently added to the ban.
All these platforms remain blocked in line with the government’s directive.
