Jammu: Tanvi The Great, a heartwarming film about a young woman with autism who aspires to join the Army to fulfil her late father’s dream of saluting the Indian flag at the Siachen Glacier, was screened in Jammu in a special show that brought together people connected with the cause of autism in the Union Territory.
The screening, held at Palm Island Theatre, was organised by Zuvi Preschool and Daycare — a school dedicated to working with children with special needs. The event united parents, doctors, therapists, special educators, and media professionals in a shared effort to promote inclusion and support for children with autism.
“We organised this special screening of Tanvi The Great today. Produced and directed by Padma Bhushan awardee Shri Anupam Kher, the film powerfully portrays the journey of a child with autism, spreading awareness, acceptance, and inclusion in society,” said Nishu Chandra, founding principal of Zuvi Preschool and Daycare.
The story follows Tanvi Raina, a neurodivergent girl whose determination transcends her physical challenges, as she strives to achieve her late father Captain Samar Partap Raina’s dream of saluting the national flag at the Bana Post in Siachen Glacier.
Megha Sambyal, a parent of an autistic child, expressed gratitude for the initiative. “We are thankful for such efforts, which help create awareness and contribute to the betterment of our children,” she said.
The cast includes Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Karan Tacker, Iain Glen, Pallavi Joshi, and Arvind Swamy. Anupam Kher himself plays Colonel Raina, Tanvi’s initially dismissive yet affectionate grandfather.
