Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday conducted a comprehensive review of the progress of ongoing development works in Srinagar district, reiterating the government’s focus on timely execution and quality delivery of projects aimed at improving public services.
The review meeting was attended by senior district and departmental officers, who briefed the Chief Minister on the status of major infrastructure projects, urban development programmes and various public welfare schemes under implementation across different parts of the district. Detailed presentations were made on works related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, sewerage, sanitation, housing, power and other essential civic amenities.
Omar Abdullah closely examined project-wise progress and sought explanations for delays, if any. He directed officials to identify and remove administrative or technical bottlenecks hampering execution and ensure that all works are completed within the prescribed timelines. Stressing accountability, he said public funds must be utilised efficiently and development projects should meet set quality standards.
Emphasising a people-centric approach, the Chief Minister underlined that development initiatives must translate into visible and lasting benefits for residents, particularly in areas facing long-pending civic problems. He asked officers to prioritise projects that directly impact daily life and public convenience.
Omar Abdullah also called for better coordination among departments to avoid overlap and delays, and urged officials to remain accessible and responsive to public grievances. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive and balanced development, he said Srinagar’s growth and development would be guided by the needs and aspirations of its people.
