Srinagar: Upholding the rich literary and cultural heritage of Kashmir, students from MPML Higher Secondary School, Srinagar, enthusiastically took part in the Chinar Book Festival held at SKICC, Srinagar.
Organized by the Union Ministry of Education in collaboration with the National Council for the Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), India’s leading institution for Urdu language and education, the festival offered a vibrant platform for students to immerse themselves in Urdu literature and cultural activities.
After exploring numerous book stalls, the students participated in interactive live sessions covering career counselling, art and culture, music and drama, culminating in an Urdu Mushaira that celebrated the language’s beauty, depth, and timeless charm.
Dr. G.N. Itoo, Director of School Education Kashmir, praised the students’ involvement, stating, “Such participation not only strengthens their linguistic and cultural roots but also broadens their intellectual horizons.” He further described Urdu as a language of expression, elegance, and heritage.
Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Gh. Mohi-Ud-din Bhat, lauded the initiative, noting, “It is encouraging to see our students actively engage in a festival that merges education with culture. Their interaction with literary and artistic platforms will undoubtedly motivate them to excel in language, literature, and beyond.”
