Kishtwar, Dec 6: Former Minister and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Saturday laid the foundation stone of a Rs 17 crore connectivity project linking Paddar with Nagseni in Kishtwar district. The project is aimed at improving road infrastructure and ensuring better access for remote communities in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sharma said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening rural connectivity and addressing long-pending demands of residents. He noted that the new road will significantly reduce travel time, enhance mobility, and open opportunities for economic development in far-flung areas.

Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) confirmed that the project will be executed in phases, with modern engineering standards to ensure durability and safety. The road is expected to benefit thousands of people by facilitating smoother transport of goods, services, and emergency support.

Local representatives and community members welcomed the move, describing it as a milestone for Paddar and Nagseni. They expressed hope that improved connectivity will boost tourism potential, strengthen agriculture supply chains, and provide better access to education and healthcare facilities.

Sharma reiterated that the government remains focused on inclusive development and assured that similar projects will be taken up across Kishtwar to bridge infrastructure gaps. He emphasized that road connectivity is a lifeline for remote areas and pledged continued efforts to uplift marginalized communities.
