Jammu: Indian Army keeps a close interaction with ESM through Rallies and various other programmes, where ESM can project their problems. Certain programmes are also planned by NGOs, with specific Welfare activities. One such programme was organized by the Tiger Division at Jammu, in support of Disabled Soldiers. Six Modified scooters were donated by a NGO, War Wounded Foundation (WWF). The programme was conducted on the initiative of Director North Zone, WWF. The War Disabled Soldiers were identified with the help of the Indian Army, after liaison by WWF, six Disabled Soldiers projected demand for Scooters. GOC Tiger Division presented the keys of the Scooters to Disabled Soldiers, in the presence of Brig Harcharan Singh (Retired), in an impressive ceremony.
GOC Tiger Division appreciated the services and dedication of the soldiers, who were injured in the line of duty. He mentioned that even after retirement, our soldiers are always ready to provide their services for the Nation, as was evident during Operation Sindoor as well. The Army runs various schemes for the welfare of the ESM, and has maintained an efficient system of maintaining liaison with them.
While serving in the army, many soldiers are wounded in war/ during war-like situations. The injury reduces mobility of the Soldier. To help such Disabled soldiers, WWF provides Mobility equipment and other help to these soldiers. Till date, WWF has helped soldiers from J&K/ Punjab with around 60 Modified Scooters, 5 Auto Rickshaws, two Electric Wheelchairs, Modification to Bathrooms and help for Marriage of their daughters. With this help, injured soldiers can move independently, carry out routine functions and develop self-confidence. WWF will be conducting Rallies in Garhwal and North East part of India in near future.
Brig Harcharan Singh (Retired) thanked the Indian Army authorities for conducting this noble event, with an aim to help out the ESM. He informed the gathering about welfare schemes being run by WWF, benefiting Disabled soldiers residing in any part of the country. WWF helps Disabled Soldiers, in order to make them Psychologically stronger. The soldiers are also supported to start their own enterprises, with an aim’’ To Help Convert the Disability into Ability”.
GOC assured of all support to the ESM and help to WWF, for execution of their noble mission. The country is thankful for the contribution of ESM, who gave their best years of life to serve the country. He appreciated the efforts of WWF to develop a positive attitude in Disabled Soldiers through various welfare schemes, so that they become independent and do not require help from others.
