The Supreme Court on Thursday highlighted the serious concern over the rising number of missing children across the country. The bench emphasized the urgent need for authorities to strengthen mechanisms for tracking, prevention, and prompt action in such cases.
The Court noted that many incidents remain unreported or unresolved due to gaps in coordination between law enforcement agencies, child protection authorities, and local administration. It called for a comprehensive approach to ensure the safety and rehabilitation of vulnerable children.
The bench urged governments at both the Centre and state levels to implement effective measures, including awareness campaigns, stricter monitoring, and timely reporting, to address this critical issue. Authorities were also advised to ensure proper investigation and accountability in all cases involving missing children.
