New Delhi, Dec 03: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Jammu and Kashmir presented a detailed survey report to Union Finance Minister, highlighting extensive damages caused by recent rain-induced floods and landslides across several districts of the Union Territory. The leaders urged the Centre to sanction a special relief package to support affected families and restore damaged infrastructure.

The report, prepared after on-ground assessments, documents widespread destruction of residential houses, agricultural land, roads, and public utilities. BJP leaders said the natural calamity has left hundreds of families displaced and caused significant economic losses, particularly in rural and hilly areas.

During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the urgent need for financial assistance to rehabilitate victims and rebuild critical infrastructure. They requested the Finance Minister to direct immediate release of funds under disaster relief provisions, noting that the state exchequer alone cannot meet the scale of requirements.

Party leaders also stressed the importance of long-term mitigation measures, including strengthening embankments, improving drainage systems, and initiating landslide control projects in vulnerable zones. They said such steps are vital to reduce risks from recurring natural disasters in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Finance Minister assured the delegation that the matter would be examined and appropriate steps taken to provide relief to the affected population. Officials indicated that the Centre is considering a comprehensive package to address both immediate rehabilitation and long-term resilience in the region.
