JAMMU: The Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) of Government Degree College Akhnoor today organized a Seminar-cum-Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment Policies under the patronage of the College Principal, Dr. Romilla Malla Bhatt.
The program aimed to sensitize students and faculty members about the significance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. The event commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Monika Malhotra, Convener of CASH, who briefed the audience about the objectives of the seminar and elaborated on the challenges faced by women and girls in workplaces and educational institutions. She also emphasized the relevance of the POSH Act in ensuring safety and dignity for all.
Students Komal, Tamanna Sharma, Ritika Sharma (Semester 3rd), and Nisha Sharma, Radhika Sharma, Ritika Sharma (Semester 1st) representing various departments of the college, delivered insightful talks on the theme.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 52 students and 15 faculty members attending. It concluded with an interactive session, where participants shared their views, asked questions, and discussed practical measures to prevent harassment. Students were encouraged to remain aware, speak up, and collectively stand against any form of misconduct.
Committee members Dr. Shashi Sharma, Dr. Deepali Mahajan, Dr. Rajiv Katoch, Dr. Pinky Manhas, Prof. Anjela Qureshi, Prof. Shreya Sharma, Prof. Suresh Kumar, and Dr. Rimjhim also engaged with participants during the session.
Other faculty members present on the occasion included Prof. Neeru Dalla, Dr. Anju Bala, Dr. Seema Kumari, Dr. Neha Uttam, and Dr. Esha Kumari Verma.
