New Delhi: Individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) with taxable capital gains can now file their Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024β25 using Form ITR-2. The Income Tax Department announced on X that βITR-2 is now available for online filing with pre-filled data on the e-filing portal.β
Form ITR-2 is meant for individuals and HUFs who earn income from capital gains but do not have income from business or profession. Last month, the department had already enabled online filing for ITR-1 and ITR-4βsimpler forms designed for small and medium taxpayers.
The government has extended the deadline for filing ITRs for Assessment Year 2025β26 (FY 2024β25) to September 15, for those not required to get their accounts audited. The previous deadline was July 31.
