Ten Security Personnel Injured as CRPF Vehicle Plunges into Gorge in Budgam

Budgam: Ten security personnel sustained injuries on Tuesday when a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Tangnar in the Doothpathri area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The vehicle, affiliated with the 181st Battalion of the CRPF, was transporting personnel stationed at the Special Operations Group (SOG) camp in Hardu Panzoo, Beerwah.

The incident took place while navigating the steep and hilly terrain of Tangnar. According to reports, the vehicle lost control, overturned, and rolled down the slope, causing multiple injuries.

Local residents and emergency responders promptly reached the site, assisting in the rescue and transporting the injured to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Khansahib for immediate medical attention.

Given the severity of their injuries, all ten personnel were later transferred to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment. Among the injured were CRPF constables Shyam Balaji, Vijay Shankar, Akshay Bhagwat, Jaykendra, Prakash Jamatia, Bikas Barman, and Rajiv, from various battalions including the 35th, 43rd, 25th, and 181st.

Also injured were driver Ram Gopal of the 75th Battalion, and Special Police Officers (SPOs) Feroz Ahmad and Javid Ahmad.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
