Mumbai: The teaser for Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is finally here.
Produced by Maddock Films, Thama is part of the studio’s horror-comedy universe, which includes Rajkummar Rao’s Stree, Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya, and Abhay Verma’s Munjya.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film is billed as the first love story within Maddock’s horror-comedy world. Alongside the lead pair, it features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a negative role and Paresh Rawal in a supporting role.
The teaser opens with Ayushmann asking, “Will you be able to live without me for 100 years?” to which Rashmika replies, “Not even for a moment.” This is followed by close-up shots of the duo exchanging glances in a forest, visuals of their dance sequences, and a special dance performance by Malaika Arora.
It concludes with Nawazuddin in a chilling avatar, criticizing romance among the townsfolk: “Why did you stop? In my 75 years of life, I haven’t seen romance. Continue, continue,” before leaping to attack.
Maddock Films shared the teaser on Instagram with the caption: “Na darr kabhi itna shaktishaali tha, aur na pyaar kabhi itna BLOODY! Brace yourself this Diwali to witness the first love story in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe.”
Earlier, the makers released a series of posters featuring the lead actors. Ayushmann is introduced as Alok – Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed, displaying an intense look. Rashmika’s poster shows her as Tadaka – Roshni ki ek hi paheli kiran, dressed in a dramatic gown with a powerful expression.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, playing a negative role, is revealed as Yakshasan – Andhere ka badshah, with long hair and a devilish aura. Paresh Rawal’s first look as Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal – someone who always tries to find tragedy in comedy has also been unveiled.
Thama is set to release this Diwali.
