RAJOURI: Following the directions of NALSA, the 3rd National Lok Adalat-2025 was held today at the District Court Complex, Rajouri, as well as in all other courts across the district. The event was conducted under the chairmanship of Rajinder Sapru, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge), and under the guidance of Shama Sharma, Sub-Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority. Two main benches were constituted to handle all types of cases.
The first bench was headed by Sudesh Sharma (Additional District & Sessions Judge, Rajouri), assisted by Javed Rana (Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rajouri) and Khilat Mehmood Bhat (Advocate). The second bench was led by Rayaz Ahmed Choudhary (Sub-Judge, Special Mobile Magistrate, Rajouri), along with Shama Sharma and Shavika Gupta (District Mobile Magistrate, Traffic, Rajouri). Similar benches were also formed at the Tehsil level under the respective presiding officers.
A total of 897 cases, including both pre-litigation and post-litigation matters, were taken up, out of which 690 cases were successfully disposed of. Compensation totaling Rs. 1,54,73,100 (One crore fifty-four lakh seventy-three thousand one hundred only) was awarded. Specifically, from the courts of the Principal District & Sessions Judge and the Additional District & Sessions Judge, 26 MACT cases were settled, with compensation of Rs. 1,39,90,000 (One crore thirty-nine lakh ninety thousand only).
The event saw active participation from bank representatives, advocates of various insurance companies, bar members, PLVs, court staff, litigants, and a large number of citizens.
