Raesi: Devotees flocked to the Vaishno Devi Temple on Wednesday from early morning to celebrate Maha Navami, the ninth and final day of Navratri.
The temple was adorned with vibrant flowers, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the pilgrims.
On Maha Navami, devotees worship Goddess Durga, especially in her forms of Maa Siddhidatri—the bestower of powers—and Mahishasuramardini, the slayer of the buffalo demon, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
Vishnu Saini, visiting the temple, said, “The decoration is wonderful. I prayed for happiness, peace, and prosperity. I hope for a peaceful environment, and that what happened in Kashmir does not happen again.”
Shivam, another devotee, shared, “Maha Navami is very auspicious. With Dussehra approaching, I wanted to offer my prayers on this concluding day. The crowd is smaller this year due to past events, but the temple looks beautiful. I prayed for peace for the nation and for the well-being of my family.”
Shubham Kumar Gupta added, “The atmosphere here is lovely, and I feel blessed after my prayers. The arrangements and decorations are excellent, and many devotees have gathered here.”
Maha Navami signifies the final day of the battle between Goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura, with her victory representing the triumph of good over evil. It is observed with fasting and special rituals, marking the culmination of the Navratri festival.
