Srinagar: Acting swiftly on a violent assault in Qamarwari, Srinagar Police have arrested all three accused involved in the case following a series of overnight raids across multiple city locations, officials said.

The incident took place on October 14, 2025, near Haroon Bakery at Hilal Abad, Qamarwari, where a youth, Noman Yaqoob Khanday, was attacked with an axe by unidentified assailants. The victim’s father, Mohd Yaqoob Khanday, a resident of Bilal Colony, Qamarwari, immediately reported the matter at Police Post Qamarwari.

Following the complaint, FIR No. 100/2025 was registered at Police Station Parimpora under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — Sections 126(2), 115(2), and 109.

Police launched an intensive investigation involving area searches, CCTV analysis, and vehicle verification, which led to the identification and arrest of the accused:

Sahil Yaqoob Grustoo, son of Mohd Yaqoob Grustoo, resident of Boatman Colony.

Farooq alias Farhan Ahmad Dar, son of Gh. Nabi Dar, resident of Boatman Colony.

Bilal Ahmad Guroo, son of Zahoor Ahmad Guroo, resident of Boatman Colony, Bemina.

All three were apprehended during coordinated overnight raids, and the weapon of offence was also recovered.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was motivated by a personal grudge, though further inquiry is underway to explore other possible motives.

In a statement, Srinagar Police reaffirmed their commitment to taking swift and firm action against all forms of crime that disturb public peace, emphasizing that no leniency will be shown to those involved in such violent acts.
