Udhampur: Three Drug Peddlers Arrested, Property Worth ₹50 Lakh Attached
Jammu: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district arrested three drug peddlers and attached the property of another on Wednesday, officials said.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrests bring the total number of drug peddlers held in the district this year to 156.
During frisking in the Majalta area, police apprehended Pawan Kumar of Dansal and Rajinder Kumar of Manwal, recovering 5 grams and 4.2 grams of heroin respectively from their possession. In a separate operation, Kazim Ashraf, a resident of Bhaderwah, was intercepted while riding a two-wheeler, and 7.18 grams of heroin were seized from him.
Police have registered three separate cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the accused.
In another action under the NDPS Act, authorities attached property worth ₹50 lakh belonging to drug peddler Amit Singh of Sonthan village.
Investigations revealed that Singh had acquired a residential house, adjoining land, and a motorcycle using proceeds from narcotics trade. “Based on the evidence gathered, both properties were attached for further legal proceedings,” the spokesperson added.
