Jammu: Three individuals have been chargesheeted in a cryptocurrency investment fraud case in Jammu city, officials said on Monday.
The accused allegedly enticed victims by promising high returns on cryptocurrency investments.
The case was filed following a complaint by Riaz Ahmed Zargar, who claimed that he and his relatives were defrauded of Rs 6.3 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Bhagwati Sharana Diwedi from Ayodhya, Syed Riaz Ahmed from Doda, and Avtar Singh Khalsa from Jammu.
A preliminary inquiry by the Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE) revealed substantial evidence of fraud, prompting the registration of an FIR under Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Ranbir Penal Code.
Inspector Jaleel Kitchloo conducted the investigation, and a challan has been submitted to the competent court for further judicial proceedings.
