Mendhar/Jammu: Three residents of Punjab were arrested from a forward area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday, officials said. Police seized two pistols and over ₹2 lakh from their possession.
According to officials, the trio is linked to the notorious Gopi Ghanshyam Puria gang and had travelled to the border village to procure weapons.
The arrested individuals — Kanwaljeet Singh, Mandeep Singh alias Sidhu, and Harmanpreet Singh, all from Amritsar — were travelling in a private vehicle when police intercepted them at Mirza Morh in Surankote.
Officials said ₹2.18 lakh was recovered from the car, and sustained interrogation led to the discovery of two pistols and live ammunition.
A case has been registered at the Surankote police station, and further investigation is underway, they added.
