Ganderbal Police Book Three Sonamarg Hoteliers for Violating Immigration and Foreigners Act
Ganderbal: Police in Ganderbal have registered cases against three hoteliers in Sonamarg for violating provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act after they failed to submit details of foreign tourists to the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) within the prescribed time frame.
According to an official statement, the action was taken under the supervision of SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), during a comprehensive inspection drive in the Sonamarg area.
The inspection revealed that Hotel Mount View, Hotel Imperial Resort, and Hotel Village Walk had accommodated foreign tourists without timely reporting their information to the authorities, as mandated under Section 17 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Taking cognizance of the lapse, Police Station Sonamarg registered three separate FIRs — FIR No. 25/2025, 26/2025, and 27/2025 — under Section 8/23(b) of the Act against the respective hotel owners.
Police have advised all hotel and guesthouse operators in the district, particularly those catering to foreign nationals, to adhere strictly to legal requirements and ensure prompt submission of guest details to the FRO.
Ganderbal Police reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the law and maintaining accountability within the hospitality sector.
