Pennsylvania Shooting Leaves Three Officers Dead, Two Critically Injured

Pennsylvania: Three police officers were killed and two others critically wounded in a shooting in North Codorus Township, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday afternoon, according to local reports.

State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris confirmed the deaths, adding that the gunman was also killed during the exchange of fire. He said the officers were following up on a “domestic-related” investigation that began a day earlier but declined to share further details.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m., about 115 miles west of Philadelphia near the Maryland border. Governor Josh Shapiro said the officers came under fire while responding to a domestic investigation. The two surviving officers remain in critical but stable condition.

Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s identity or specified which agencies the slain officers served.

“We grieve the loss of three precious souls who served this county, this commonwealth, and this country,” Governor Shapiro said.

Footage from the scene showed one injured officer being airlifted by helicopter. A nearby school district in Spring Grove was briefly placed under a shelter-in-place order but later confirmed students were safe.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi condemned the shooting as “a scourge on our society” and said federal agents are assisting in the probe. Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis urged residents to keep the victims and their families in their prayers.

An investigation is ongoing.
