Srinagar, Nov 21: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Darakhshan Andrabi, expressed confidence that tourism in Kashmir is set to witness a strong revival, citing improving conditions and increasing visitor interest. She said that the region’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and improving infrastructure continue to attract travellers from across the country and abroad.
Darakhshan noted that consistent efforts by the administration to enhance facilities, upgrade tourist destinations and strengthen safety measures are contributing to renewed confidence among visitors. She added that peace and stability in the region play a crucial role in boosting tourist inflow and supporting the livelihood of thousands dependent on the sector.
Highlighting the significance of tourism as a major pillar of the local economy, Darakhshan said that the government is committed to promoting Kashmir globally as a premier travel destination. She emphasized that sustained promotional campaigns, cultural festivals and improved connectivity will further accelerate the revival of the industry.
She also urged stakeholders, including hospitality operators and local communities, to extend their cooperation in ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for tourists, reinforcing Kashmir’s reputation as a preferred destination.
Darakhshan expressed optimism that the coming seasons will bring a substantial increase in tourist arrivals, reaffirming her belief that tourism in Kashmir “will flourish once again.”
