Rajouri: A Tree Plantation Drive was conducted by the Indian Army at Thanamandi on 12 March 2025, with an aim towards creating a greener, healthier and more sustainable future and also to create awareness amongst the local populace.
The event witnessed approximately 115 people including 21 x Gents, 32 x Ladies, 38 x Children and 24 x Army Persons at Thanamandi. Tree plantation drive is a step towards creating a greener, healthier and more sustainable future.
We believe that collective action can lead to significant positive change. Tree plantation session came to be a great success. The event helped to bring awareness about the green cover around us. It also helped in strengthening the bond between plants and humans. People got to learn a lot and will always cherish the memories of the important occasion, Indian Army’s outreach to Schools and local community Groups have encouraged them for participating in such events on regular basis.
The event was organised with an informative session on the importance of trees and their role in combating climate change and also to encourage participants and local residents to take responsibility for the care and maintenance of the newly planted trees. The joint efforts of Indian Army, Students and Locals contributed towards the success of the event. The event will not only be a step to increase the number of trees planted, but also increase awareness among the participants and the community about the significance of preserving the environment. This gesture and effort by Indian Army was highly appreciated by AWAM.
This endeavour by Army to reach out to the population residing in remote areas where civil administration has limited accessibility, will go a long way in developing and strengthening trust between JAWAN and AWAM. The event also served as a platform to strengthen the bond between Army and the people of this region, it showcased Army’s commitment towards service to the nation.
