Jammu: The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has filed a chargesheet against 12 individuals, including four former revenue officials, for allegedly grabbing nearly three acres of land belonging to Auqaf Islamia in Jammu, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime, Benam Tosh, confirmed the filing of the chargesheet, noting that the case was registered in 2013 under multiple sections of the Ranbir Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The challan has been submitted before the special judge, anti-corruption, Jammu, for judicial consideration.
Those named in the chargesheet include former Tehsildar Daljeet Singh, Naib-Tehsildar Som Dutt, Girdawar Ram Saran, and Patwari Abdul Fani. Officials said Saran, Fani, and another accused, Abdul Sattar, have since passed away.
The case originated from a written complaint by the Administrator of Auqaf Islamia Jammu, alleging that certain beneficiaries, in connivance with revenue officials, conspired to commit cheating, forgery, and fraud to illegally acquire 26 kanals of Auqaf land at Chatha Gujran, Jammu.
Investigators said sufficient documentary and other evidence established the offences, leading to the filing of the chargesheet.
