Jammu: A two days National conference on “Recent Advances in Mathematics – 2024” organised by Department of Mathematics, Central University of Jammu inaugurated today (27 March. 2024) at Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences, Central University of Jammu.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Head of the Department welcomed the delegates, young researchers and students in the conference. Prof. Chanchal Kumar from IISER Mohali was the chief Guest, Prof. S. D. Sharma, one of the founder members of the Department was the guest of honour, Prof. Ritumoni Sarma from IIT Delhi was the special guest of the function. The other dignitaries who were present in the inaugural function were Prof. V. K. Bhat and Dr. Kuldip Raj from SMVDU, Prof. Sartaj Ul Hasan, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Dr. Rahul Kitture, Dr.Tanmay Sarkar and Dr. Kousik Dhara from IIT Jammu, and Dr.Rachna Sachdev from GNDU.
Apart from the inaugural session, there were four academic sessions during which ten invited speakers delivered their talks and discussed the open problems in the areas of Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Graph Theory, Coding Theory and Cryptography for further research. During the first day of the conference, the young researchers interacted with the experts and discussed the directions for further research in their areas of interest. Dr.Pavinder Singh, organising secretary of the conference presented a formal vote of thanks and declared the conference open.
