KULGAM: Two people were killed and two others injured on Wednesday after a tree and a boulder, dislodged by strong winds, fell on a tent in the upper reaches of the Kund area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to officials, the victims were members of a nomadic family camping in the forested region when an alpine tree and a boulder crashed onto their tent during gusty weather conditions.
“Two family members died on the spot,” an official confirmed.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Boker and his daughter-in-law Reshma Begum, both residents of Rajouri. The family had been staying in the Kund forests at the time of the incident.
Police have registered a case and initiated further proceedings.
