Jammu: Two people were killed and two others injured in separate rain-related incidents in Reasi and Kathua districts early Saturday, officials said.
In Reasi’s Mahore area, Shahbaz Ahmad, a resident of Jamlan village, died and two others were injured when their truck was hit by a landslide triggered by heavy rains near Malai Nallah. The incident occurred around 2:30 am, and the injured—Javed Ahmad and Abdul Gani—were rescued and taken to a hospital, officials added.
In Kathua district, one person, identified as Ravi, lost his life when his car was swept away by flash floods while crossing an overflowing stream near Dreamland Park. A joint rescue team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the police recovered his body.
Meanwhile, at least 20 passengers, including students, were injured when a private bus overturned near a bridge in Arnia, on the outskirts of Jammu’s R.S. Pura area. The bus, en route to Jammu, skidded off the road after the driver lost control and flipped into an open field. The injured were taken to a hospital, with officials reporting that four of them are in serious condition.
