Dubai: Opening batsman Muhammad Waseem will captain the 17-member UAE squad for the Asia Cup 2025, set to begin in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, 9 September, according to the UAE Cricket website.
The UAE are placed in Group A, alongside India, Oman, and Pakistan. They will face India in their opening match at the Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday, 10 September.
Two players, right-arm pacer Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh, join the squad from the ongoing T20I tri-series against Pakistan and Afghanistan, while the rest of the team retains their previous spots.
UAE will take on Oman at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium on Monday, 15 September, and play Pakistan in their final group game at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday, 17 September.
Following the group stage, the Super 4 will feature the top two teams from each group, running from 20 to 26 September. The tournament final is scheduled for 28 September in Dubai.
