Udhampur: District Advisory Committee reviews enforcement of PC & PNDT Act

UDHAMPUR,: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai convened a meeting of the District Advisory Committee today to review the implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act in the district.

At the outset, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas provided an overview of the meeting’s objectives and presented cases for the registration of new private ultrasound centers.

  A detailed discussion was held on various key issues, including the registration and renewal of ultrasound center certificates, regulations under the PC & PNDT Act, inspection protocols and mechanisms for monitoring compliance, conducting IEC activities to raise public awareness was also emphasized.

The DC directed the CMO to grant provisional registration to clinical establishments upon fulfillment of requisite formalities. Additionally, the CMO was instructed to carry out inspections of both registered and take action against unregistered clinical establishments, if any, as per the provisions of the Clinical Establishment Act.

The stakeholder departments were tasked with conducting frequent inspections of ultrasound clinics, particularly in remote areas, to ensure compliance with the rules and provisions of the Act. Strict action was recommended against any institutions found violating the regulations. The DC emphasized that the inspection team must include a representative from the police department.

For the approval of new ultrasound center registrations, the DC mandated that photographs and videographic evidence of the premises and its surroundings be presented before the Advisory Committee. All ultrasound centers across the district were directed to maintain proper records of antenatal cases.
