Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked the owner and staff of Hotel Samrat in Udhampur for allegedly failing to report the stay of a foreign national, in violation of the Foreigners Act, an official said on Friday.

During a routine inspection, it was found that the hotel management had not submitted Form C—a mandatory online report for all foreign guests—required under the Act, a police spokesperson said.

Police added that a foreign national had stayed at the hotel a few days ago, but the management did not report the stay to the Senior Superintendent of Police, who also serves as the Foreigners Registration Officer, as mandated by law.

A case has been registered at the Udhampur Police Station, and further investigation is in progress, the spokesperson said.

Authorities have cautioned all hotel and lodging operators to strictly comply with legal requirements regarding the accommodation of foreign nationals and to ensure timely submission of Form C to avoid legal consequences.
