New Delhi, November 30 — Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh, a retired IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, has been granted a further extension in his tenure. An official notification confirmed that his term will continue until further orders.
Singh, who assumed charge as Secretary General on December 1, 2020, had earlier received a two-year extension in November 2021, followed by one-year extensions in 2023 and 2024. His latest extension ensures continuity in the administrative leadership of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
A 1986-batch officer, Singh retired as Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand in July 2020 before joining the Lok Sabha Secretariat as Secretary in September 2020. He has since overseen parliamentary floor management and administrative reforms within the House.
The extension underscores the importance of experienced leadership in managing the functioning of Parliament, with officials noting that Singh’s tenure will continue until further orders.
