Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Vande Bharat trains will soon begin offering region-specific local cuisines to passengers, aligning onboard services with the cultural and culinary diversity of the routes they operate on. He said the initiative aims to enhance passenger experience and promote India’s rich food heritage.

The Minister noted that the introduction of local dishes will not only provide travellers with fresh and authentic meal options but also support small food producers and local culinary traditions. The move is part of the Railways’ broader effort to modernise services and make train travel more comfortable and culturally connected.

According to the Railways, menus will be curated based on regional preferences, ensuring that passengers can enjoy familiar flavours during their journey. The initiative will be rolled out in phases across various Vande Bharat routes.

Vaishnaw added that the Railways is continuously upgrading passenger amenities, and the inclusion of local cuisines reflects the commitment to offering high-quality, diverse and customer-friendly services on India’s premium trains.
