Veteran Actor Satish Shah Passes Away at 74 Due to Kidney Failure

Mumbai: Veteran actor Satish Shah, celebrated for his iconic comic roles in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away today due to kidney failure. He was 74.

The news of his demise was confirmed by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking update. According to him, Shah breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday.

Calling Shah’s passing a “huge loss” for the entertainment industry, Pandit said,

“Our friend and great actor Satish Shah has passed away due to kidney failure. Just a few hours ago, he suddenly fell ill at home and was rushed to Hinduja Hospital in Shivaji Park. He couldn’t survive. It’s a huge loss for our industry.”

Pandit, who had collaborated with Shah on several projects, fondly remembered the late actor’s warmth and professionalism.

“I have worked a lot with Satish. He was not just a talented actor but also a wonderful human being. His family informed me of the news, and I am deeply saddened. There are no words to express this loss,” he said.

With a career spanning over four decades, Satish Shah was a beloved figure in Indian cinema and television. Known for his impeccable comic timing, he appeared in numerous hit films, including Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Om Shanti Om, and Shaadi No. 1.

However, it was his portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult-favorite sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai that cemented his legacy as one of India’s finest comic actors.

The entertainment fraternity and fans across the country are mourning the loss of the veteran star. His funeral is expected to take place on Sunday.
