HANOI,: Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology is accelerating the rapid development of the 5G network, aiming to extend coverage to 90% of the population by the end of 2025, local media VnExpress reported today.
Currently, 26% of the Vietnamese population has access to 5G services, according to the ministry.
Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung said intensive and extensive 5G coverage is an urgent priority for the remainder of the year.
Under a new development plan, the ministry aims to have the number of 5G base stations reach at least 50% of the current number of 4G stations by 2025. It is projected that the number of 5G stations could exceed 68,000 by the end of this year.
