Poonch :ESM Rally was held at Poonch on 22 Nov 2024 by the Army. The War Wounded Foundation was represented in this rally, through Brig Harcharan Singh, Dir North Zone. Four Modified Scooters were sponsored by War Wounded Foundation (WWF), for presentation to War Disabled Soldiers. WWF is a NGO raised to help War Wounded Soldiers.
The psychological support and Mobility equipment provided by WWF motivates Disabled Soldiers to move out of the confinement of four walls of their houses, thereby Converting Disability Into Ability. Till date, 22 Modified Scooters, 3 Auto Rickshaws and one Electric Wheelchair have been distributed to Disabled ESM of J&K/Ladakh, with plans to cover ESM of Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and Chandigarh in near future. WWF works in close coordination with the Army for these projects, to ensure judicious and authentic distribution of resources. After the presentation of Modified Scooters/Auto Rickshaws/Wheel Chairs, War Disabled soldiers feel empowered and exhibit strong willpower to start new enterprises, in spite of their physical disability.
From time to time, interaction is carried out by WWF to know about the problems of the Disabled Soldiers and to guide them. Research Studies are sponsored through USI (New Delhi) by WWF, to analyze the problems faced by Wounded Soldiers and remedials measures are recommended to the Govt/Army authorities. In the ESM Rally, the Army had invited various agencies, connected with Pension/Welfare Schemes of ESM. The Modified Scooters, sponsored by WWF were presented by White Knight Corps Commander to Disabled Soldiers.
These ESM will now be able to move independently for socializing and would start their own business, thereby motivate the youth with their dedication and positivity. Brig Harcharan Singh explained the organization of WWF, which is being headed by Lt Gen Asit Mistry, as the President. He further said that WWF is able to serve the ESM due to support of the Army. In the border areas of J&K, the army has maintained liaison with ESM, even in remotest villages. To provide Psy Counseling to ESM/Wounded Soldiers, WWF has catered for services of highly trained and reputed Psychologists. Services of experienced officers are available to resolve Pension related issues of ESM.
He further informed that War Injured ESM can approach WWF for any help, including help during marriage of their daughters and for starting their own enterprises. WWF conducts yearly Rallies for War Wounded Soldiers, where qualified experts provide information on Injury Management, Govt Welfare Schemes, Inputs on Pension/Grants, Motivational Speeches and Inputs on Employment. The next All India Level Rally for Disabled Soldiers is tentatively planned in April 2025.All these activities are held to motivate Disabled Soldiers, to take inputs on problems facing Disabled soldiers and raise their morale by their integration into WWF Family.
