Mumbai: Bollywood stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor have voiced their concerns over the rising misuse of artificial intelligence, referencing the ongoing personality rights case of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Speaking at the trailer launch of their upcoming film, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, on Monday, both actors highlighted the responsibilities that come with technological advancements in the entertainment industry.

Varun emphasized the need for laws and regulations to protect artists. “We could reach a point where actors aren’t needed at all, and everything could be created digitally,” he said.

Janhvi added, “This isn’t just about actors, but everyone working behind the scenes. AI has accelerated processes that used to take time—like visualizing characters or discussing their looks. While it may reduce costs, it’s crucial to preserve the creativity only humans can bring.” She also noted the issue of unauthorized images, citing her own experience with fake visuals circulating online.

Earlier this month, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan approached the Delhi High Court to protect her personality rights amid the unauthorized use of her name, photographs, and likeness across digital platforms and commercial products.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated trailer of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has dropped, promising a fun-filled ride for audiences.

The two-minute, fifty-four-second trailer begins with Varun Dhawan proposing to Sanya Malhotra, only to be rejected. Determined to win her back, he teams up with Janhvi Kapoor. Complications arise when Sanya announces her engagement to Rohit Saraf, Janhvi’s ex. To stop the wedding and make their exes jealous, Varun and Janhvi pretend to be a couple, but things take an unexpected turn as they start developing feelings for each other.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 2, 2025.
