WhatsApp iOS 26 Version: Liquid Glass Update Begins Testing for iPhone Users

WhatsApp is testing a new Liquid Glass interface on iPhones as part of its iOS 26 beta update, following Apple’s recent design overhaul. The feature is currently available to select beta testers and is expected to roll out to all users once final adjustments and bug fixes are complete.

Apple introduced the Liquid Glass effect with the iOS 26 update, bringing one of the biggest visual redesigns to iPhone in recent years. The interface adds a smooth, glass-like visual layer that gives icons and menus a translucent depth as users scroll through the screen.

The update also includes a new SDK (Software Development Kit), allowing third-party apps like WhatsApp and Instagram to easily adopt the new design language. According to WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp’s latest beta version integrates features such as dynamic transparency, depth effects, and fluid animations, perfectly aligning with Apple’s new design philosophy.

In this version, the tab bar appears to float above the main interface, and the background subtly reflects content, enhancing the illusion of glass. These changes mark one of the most significant visual updates for WhatsApp on iPhone to date, and a wider rollout is expected in the coming weeks or months.

The iOS 26 update is now reaching more iPhone users, including those with the new iPhone 17 and iPhone Air models. However, not all users are fond of the Liquid Glass visuals. Responding to feedback, Apple has added new accessibility options to adjust or disable the transparency effects:

How to Reduce or Disable the Liquid Glass Effect:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Go to AccessibilityDisplay & Text Size.
  3. Enable Reduce Transparency to tone down the glass effect.
  4. Optionally, turn on Increase Contrast for improved readability.

These options allow users to customize the new interface according to their comfort and preference while still enjoying the refreshed iOS 26 experience.
